Building the Future of Meghalaya's Premium Spice Processing

A PMFME-supported, export-oriented processing facility designed to create value at origin, empower farming communities, and bring Meghalaya's finest spices to global markets.

Megha Mountain Organics, together with MeghEssence Organics Pvt. Ltd., is developing a modern spice processing facility under the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme. Supported by the Government of India, the Department of Horticulture, Government of Meghalaya, and financed through Canara Bank, this facility represents our commitment to building long-term agricultural infrastructure that benefits farmers, buyers, and the state's economy.

Our Vision - Building at Origin. Growing Globally.

Our objective extends beyond processing spices. We are building a platform that connects Meghalaya's farming communities directly with premium domestic and international markets through quality-focused manufacturing and complete supply chain traceability.

The facility is designed to support increasing production volumes while maintaining strict quality standards, enabling Meghalaya's specialty spices to compete confidently in global markets.

Building the Future, One Step at a Time

The photographs below document the ongoing development of our processing facility and represent important milestones in our journey toward commercial operations.

Why This Project Matters

More Than a Processing Unit

Meghalaya produces some of the world's most sought-after spices, including GI-tagged Lakadong Turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, and indigenous chilies. Yet much of this produce leaves the state with little value addition, limiting income opportunities for farmers and local communities.

This project aims to change that. By establishing a modern processing facility at the source, we will enable cleaning, drying, grading, processing, quality testing, packaging, and storage within Meghalaya itself—ensuring higher quality, better traceability, and greater value retention for local producers.

Government & Institutional Support

Built on Strong Partnerships

This project has been made possible through the support of multiple institutions working towards a common vision of strengthening food processing in Meghalaya.

Looking Ahead

A Foundation for Larger Growth

The PMFME-supported facility represents the first phase of our long-term vision. As operations scale and market demand continues to grow, MeghEssence Organics aims to attract larger institutional investment to expand processing capacity, strengthen cold-chain and storage infrastructure, adopt advanced food processing technologies, and create one of Meghalaya's largest integrated spice processing and value-addition facilities.

Our long-term ambition is simple: To establish Meghalaya as India's leading origin for premium, traceable, export-ready specialty spices while creating sustainable income opportunities for thousands of farming families.

Our Commitment

Every foundation laid, every wall built, and every machine installed brings us one step closer to a stronger agricultural ecosystem. This project is not only an investment in infrastructure—it is an investment in farmers, rural livelihoods, women-led entrepreneurship, sustainable manufacturing, and the future of Meghalaya's spice industry.

"Every milestone brings us closer to creating lasting value for farmers, stronger supply chains, and a globally recognized future for Meghalaya's specialty spices."
